New Adventures

So, I haven't post anything on a blog since I was 18 and nerdy so bare with me.

Destiny and I have been getting it in at the gym the last few weeks and really trying our best to eat healthy. Yesterday we had one minor slip up at an all-you-can-eat chicken pub in Manayunk. But it was kinda worth it lol. Now it's time to get back on our grind and back to the gym.

Can I just say how proud I am about our progress? Destiny is a pro at working out and has seen results in the past. (I loved the results myself!) As for me, this is my first major attempt at losing weight. Also this is the first time that  Des and I have tried something like this together. I want to lose weight so I can look good and live longer. I mean, I do want to run with my kids one day;)

Also I want to do this to build another bond with Destiny. She truly drives me to be better, and what other way can I be better than to shed this weight off with my best friend? It has been a big adjustment for me, especially with us having a vegetarian like diet. I'm a big country boy who loves his meat so I must be serious to give meat up to lose weight! After 3 weeks I already see results and feel whole lot better about myself.

So with that being said, I will continue this journey with my girl and there will definitely be more to come. Sorry if I'm all over the place with this post. I'm  just really excited about documenting our progress about getting Fit 2 Luv and most importantly Fit 4 Our Future!!!!!

Peace!

Women Food and God

One of my new years resolutions was to fall in love with reading again. As a child I wouldn't leave the house without 4 or 5 books and the library was my absolute favorite place in the world! Unfortunately college just sucked all the fun and excitement out of reading from me:/

Regardless of that,  readers are leaders (so cliche) and that's what I want to be! So, a few weeks ago, I joined the library and decided  that each month I would complete one book. This month's book I actually found on accident. I was at this random thrift store on the outskirts of town and I happened across this book called "Women, Food and God" in the bargain bin.

Here's an excerpt from the chapter I read tonight,  "To discover  what you really  believe, pay attention  to the way you act- and to what you do when things don't go the way you think it should. Pay attention  to what you value. Pay attention to how and on what you spend your time. Your money. And pay attention  to the way you eat."

This rings especially  true for me! I remember  in the past just eating on impulse just because I passed a particular  restaurant  or because  I was sad or frustrated. I have since began to cope with those emotions.  When I am angry or depressed I am learning  to attack the root of the issue head on, instead  of running  to food for comfort. It is a process as most things in life are, but I am getting there little by little!

I am excited  for chapter  2!

FIRST POST!

It's super late and I have NO IDEA why I am still up right now... well maybe I do. Haha. Len and I had a late workout and I am super high on endorphins as if I don't have to go to work in the morning!

Anywho, I got the big idea to start a blog today while we were in the middle of our last set of push ups for the night. Lately with our whole vegan kick, I have developed a habit of "instagramming" just about all my meals before  I eat them. In the last few days I have received  several encouraging reviews and even requests for recipies! I thought, why not  take it a step further and start a blog to not only  document our journey but keep us accountable at the same time!

This is not at all my first attempt  at weightloss... I have struggled  with my weight nearly my whole life. I have always been very  successful  at losing the weight when I put my mind to it; however my problem was staying consistent. After losing 30lbs or so I  would either become complacent or life would happen and I would just gain the weight right back...  but not this time!!

This time around consistency is my goal. Instead of meticulously tracking my weight and hopping on and off the scale everyday, my main focus is to get on  the right track and never give up. Don't get me wrong  we will have monthly benchmarks to ensure  we are moving forward but Rome wasn't  built in a day right?

Thanks for checking  out our blog more to come soon!
