Little Victories

soooo after eating green and lean, drinking a gallon of water a day, not eating after 7 and "trying" to work out at least 30 mins a day I am pleased to say that Len and I have lost a total of 8 lbs each in less than 3 weeks!

We have a whole lot more to go, but I am VERY pleased because this is becoming more than just fad diet... it's becoming a lifestyle. Here are a few things that helped me these past three weeks:

  • I took a shot of ACV almost every morning with a half of a Grapefruit- this was great for energy and I realized I wasn't as hungry
  • I got rid of all the carbs in my house... even the potatoes and corn
  • I had at least 2 green smoothies a day
  • NO SALT. AT ALL. I actually hid it from myself, still haven't found it.
  • I drank 1 Gallon of water a day.
  • NO EATING after 7pm.
  • I ALWAYS PACKED SNACKS!!!! Fail to plan, Plan to fail:)

****I tried to do some form of exercise daily- but I mostly have to credit this rapid weight loss to changing my eating habits.

Sooooooo excited for my vacation now and totally motivated to keep at it when I come back!

#HealthGoals

A new month is right around the corner and that has given us time to reflect on the past and dream about our future... February was a test for us and despite a few hiccups along the way, we passed it!

Lessons from February
1. ALWAYS TAKE A SNACK!!! NO MATTER WHAT!!!
2. A gallon of water a day won't kill you, just pace it out throughout the day and you will survive:)
3.  DON'T FORGET YOUR SNACKS!!
4.If you get discouraged or tired during your cardio session try to break it up into smaller circuits and don't be afraid to mix it up
5. Meal prep is worth it. Like Nike said, JUST DO IT. It's nothing like coming home after a long day to a fresh ready made salad or a bowl of warm soup.
6. JUICING IS LIFE.
7. Oh yea. Those snacks. Don't forget them:)
8.WHOLE FOODS IS AMAZEBALLS!!!
9. You don't always have to go to the gym to exercise! Dance, Bike, Go play laser tag with friends, make it fun!
10. Pack your Snacks,  Take a Lunch,  annnnd Meal Prep... #alladat #neverforget

So for this new month we want to kick it up a notch or two and get some cardio in at least  4 times a week. One thing we want to focus on is diversifying our exercise so we plan to go dancing on the weekend, try a random hike or two and maybe even something fun like a trampoline park:)

I personally would like to incorporate these workouts from the Black Women Losing Weight site into my daily fitness routine. I am thinking that I would do one set in before I go to work and another before bed. The site has it all, videos, suggestions, meal plans even an interactive message board! If you would like to try them as well click here and be sure to keep me posted on your progress!

Sooooooooo even though there is snow outside I still have big dreams of running outside in the fresh with the wind at my back, feeling light as a feather and free as a bird. *** snaps back to reality***  Hey, a girl can dream right? Thankfully there is an app for people like me who have dreams of running across America like Forrest Gump but are seriously out of shape. Its called  Couch to 5K and it basically trains you through a series of walk/run sets how to run a 5K.  Hopefully along with this new month everything melts so that we can get on out and run! Our goal is to do the Color Run in April so we gotta get to movin'!

Last but not least I want to stay consistent with water. It was a struggle last month!! My mom is always telling me, "Destiny, you gotta drink that water! Hydration is key!".  My mom is usually ALWAYS right so I'm going to try my best to make her proud:)

What about you? Setting any goals for this month? Let me know in the comments section below!

Weekend Cardio Jaunt #photoblog

This weekend Len and I partied like rock-stars. I don't get out much due to my busy work schedule and just life in general so to get all dolled up and go dancing two nights in a row was a real treat!

Not only did we have a blast, but we burned A LOT of calories, especially Friday night. The Prince and Michael Experience was basically a party with two dueling DJs that mixed nothing but the hits from the two stars. We literally danced and sang all.night.long. It was AWESOME!

My friend Dani and I danced all night!

Oh yea. We cheated. We had cheese-fries. Oops. LOL. But I think we danced enough to burn it all off!

Saturday night, we went Salsa dancing and it was so much fun! It was our first time and everyone there was REALLY into it! We warmed up after a while and cut a rug or two before the night was over:) I found a few great deals for couples dance classes on Groupon

Don't yal just hate how men lose weight faster than us?!! He is coming on down!
Great Night Out!

BODY CHALLENGEUPDATE: It all gets better

So if you read my last post about the Vacation Body Challenge, I was struggling.com or whatever you want to call it. The water was KILLING ME but I stuck with the challenge and it actually got better as the day week on!

With the water, I just had to pace myself. Rome wasn't built in a day and it was unrealistic to expect that I would be able to drink a gallon of water in 3 hours without having to go to the bathroom 20 million times. Now what IS realistic is waking up in the morning and drinking it along the day. I still had to go to the bathroom a lot, but by pacing myself it didn't seem so dramatic. Look Ma, I did it!

Len was enjoying those squats! So much that he just had to go and put some weights with em...

This is my, "I'm-not-enjoying-these-weighted-squats-but-I'm-gonna-keep-at-it-because-its-good-for-me"  face"

I got this chart from the thrift store for a buck or two. I think it was originally supposed to be used to track daily chores for kids but whatever... It was only a dollar! I have plans to personalize it and jazz it up a bit but its not that serious.

As you can see from the chart, we are faring pretty well in all the categories besides cardio. We have only done that twice so far,but I am proud that we have been consistent with eating clean. If you have read my post on juicing you would know that I am ADDICTED. So making a green smoothie when I woke us was like second nature, the second serving of greens came from a salad (made with a mix of kale, collards, and spinach) or another smoothie:)

At first not eating carbs for a week was hard- but then I thought about the beach and how I wanted to look good and be confident so I got over it!

Keep on pushing...
Never.
Give.
Up.
